The 98-series blast pots is naturally provided with the excellent bronze filling valve system, which guaranties a hermetic seal, as well as a pneumatic controlled main air valve, exhaust valve and abrasive metering valve. The air lining, main air valve and mixing tube have a balanced passage, resulting in minimal pressure loss.
The 98-series are executed with the new SU 98 main air valve, which is executed with a cylinder instead of the diaphragm system. The cylinder guarantees full passage, also at low working pressures.

The well-known SU-12 abrasive metering valve insures precise metering of abrasive which achieves optimal proportion of abrasive to air. This unique valve maintains the metering pre-set after shutdown or interruption. Tests in practice have proven a lower abrasive consumption up to 40% when using this metering valve.
The Blast Wizard blast pot series 98 is also executed with the SP 36 pneumatic control valve, which allows manual operation of the blast pot if the deadmans control system is out of order. Also the operator has the opportunity to close the abrasive valve and use the blast pot to blow off the blasted product.
The “Blast Wizard” 2-line control system is a very reliable system, which eliminates uncontrolled activation of the pressure blast system, as the deadmans handle passes the actual signal through the reverse hose. The control box is, accordingly CE-regulations, foreseen with an emergency knob, allowing a third party to shut down the system immediately and thus giving a double security to the system.
Straaltechniek International introduced in the early 90’s a revolutionary design for the surface preparation of the ship sections. The design was based on the use of a re-usable abrasive and no longer the copper slag, which creates huge waste amounts, due to the fact that this is a single-use abrasive. Cost reduction of the waste amount was significant and brought lots of advantages for contractors. Furthermore the design of the equipment was based on one-stop shop, which means that the complete surface preparation (shot-blasting, cleaning of internal parts of the ship sections, as well as painting) will be performed in one and the same workshop.
Therefore, the big halls were set up as combined blasting- and painting halls, which reduces the internal transport of the ship sections on the shipyard to a minimum. Furthermore, the contractor is assured that they can perform the complete surface preparation for the ship sections 365 days per year, not dependant on weather conditions anymore. In the past it was common use to perform shot blasting and paint spraying outside, under non-controllable conditions.
The new design of combined blasting- and painting halls is equipped with:
Dust collectors for shot blasting, including recirculation of cleaned air, to reduce the emission into the environment to a minimum;
Full media recovery installation to recover the used abrasive to reduce the amount of spent abrasive to a minimum;
Vacuum recovery units for the internal cleaning of ship sections and to reuse the abrasive as well
Paint spray dust collectors for painting applications, to reduce the amount of paint dust into the environment to a minimum;
Heaters to assure the contractor a stable temperature to perform the surface preparation
Dehumidifiers to control the humidity level inside the halls;
The new design of the surface treatment for ship sections was introduced in the early 90’s as environmental regulations forced the shipyards to replace the regular surface preparation methods.

Blast rooms are built to the dimensions required for the objects to be blasted. In principle, therefore, they are available in all sizes. Straaltechniek International supplies blast rooms for erection indoors and outdoors. Versions are available with a complete or partial grid floor.
Blast rooms can be supplied complete with lighting, switch board, protective rubber sheeting along the walls, etc.
They can also be supplied as a turn-key project, if required with a recycling system for dust extraction air to save energy in heated blast rooms.
