Anchor Winches

THRMarine anchor winches simply exceed the requirements of the most important classification societies. Our range includes chain diameters from 17.5 to 114 Millimetres. Every anchor winch can be supplied with remote control, remote anchor drop and/or chain-length counter. There are many other options too; we would be pleased to hear your requirements.
If you require additional safety then combine our anchor winches with our ratchet roller chain stopper that automatically stops the chain in the event of accidental slip.
Anchor winches can also be supplied as capstan.

Mooring Winches

The smoother the vessel moors, the better for the safety of the crew, the cargo and for efficiency. Reason why you would want nothing other than a THR Marine mooring winch.
Our mooring winches are designed to achieve pulling forces of 3 to 50 tonnes. There are various options, including self-tensioning (the mooring line remains tensioned irrespective of the tide and loading & unloading), remote control and facilities that meet the stringent OCIMF requirements.
Mooring winches can also be supplied as anchor capstan.

               Anchor & Mooring Capstans

THR Marine is able to supply anchor capstans, mooring capstans and a combination of both.

Anchor capstans

THR is able to supply an anchor capstan for a wide variety of anchor chain. Anchor capstans can be delivered with electric as well as hydraulic drives. The chain wheel can be operated by means of a hand wheel what is mounted on the topside of the capstan. As an option also a warping head can be delivered in combination with this anchor capstan. Anchor capstans are equipped with a horizontal band brake with the brake fitted to the gearbox.

Mooring capston

The THR electric or hydraulic capstans are characterized by their compact shape. The warping head is built on top of a round pedestal. Either the electric or hydraulic system is built in this pedestal, so the components will be under deck. Within a certain range the operation height of the capstan can be adjusted to meet the practical requirements. The electric capstan can be delivered with a one, two or three speed electro motor. The advantage of the stepless control of the warping head can be achieved with hydraulic or frequency driven capstans. THR can delivered Capstans according to DIN 84154.

Special capstans

Besides the standard anchor and mooring capstans THR can also supply capstans that have gears and electro motor that are fully incorporated in the warping head of the capstan. This way of building results in very compact shaped capstans that can be installed completely on deck. THR Marine is also able to deliver anchor capstans in high polished stainless steel yacht execution.

Anchors

The original THR POOL® anchors are the result of centuries of ship anchor development, which started with the old well-known stock anchor. Following sailors’ demands for better tractability of the anchor, the still frequently used cast stockless bow anchor was developed. Over the past decades, the so-called High Holding Power (HHP) and Super High Holding Power (SHHP) ship anchors were developed as a result of the need for more reliability and less weight. The leading types of these anchors are the POOL® anchors. THR has more than 40 years of experience and knowledge of the POOL® anchor, making THR a reliable partner both now and in the future. In order to obtain type approval for High Holding Power, the anchor has to prove that it has a holding capacity of at least two times the holding capacity of a conventional anchor of the same weight during full-scale sea trials. The predicate HHP allows a weight reduction of 25% compared to a conventional anchor for the same equipment number.

An important comparative feature is the over-balanced anchor head of almost all POOL® anchor types. The centre of gravity of these anchors lies below the axle. As a result, the flukes are always vertical while heaving the anchor. Contrary to most other ship anchors, which are cast or forged, POOL® anchors are made from welded high tensile steel plate material. Normally the anchor is connected to the vessel by means of a chain or a steel wire (and a chain forerunner). Of course THR can supply you with the complete chain specification with the anchor. In order to do this, a consultation with SEC is required. That’s why it’s important to pay attention to the way the anchor and the chain are connected to each other on one side, and to the way the chain is connected to the vessel on the other side.

Mooring Equipment

SEC Fairtrans Mooring Equipment is a trade name of various types of mooring equipment produced and delivered by SEC. Chocks, warping rollers, double bollards and fairleads all belong to this range of products. Depending on your needs, SEC offers a wide range of standard mooring equipment, most of which is in stock and can be delivered immediately, shot blasted and with one coat of shop primer. SEC provides almost all of the requested types of mooring equipment for every type of ship.

The advantages of SEC Fairtrans mooring equipment for ship owners are numerous. For example, the warping rollers are delivered maintenance-free as standard. The fairleads can also optionally be delivered in a maintenance-free version. Most of the mooring equipment is built according to DIN standards. These standards are used as a reference by many classification societies. The mooring equipment is constructed from high quality components, for long life and safe operation. Dimensions exceed the standard to protect wires and lines against early wear and tear. SEC can assist you in designing a mooring arrangement plan. The winches and mooring equipment can be placed in such a way that mooring operations can be carried out with a reduced crew. SEC is able to deliver mooring equipment at competitive prices. All mooring equipment is ready for installation on board. The products can be installed without alterations to the construction of the vessel. The use of a welding primer enables direct welding on the deck of the vessel, which reduces installation time for the shipyard.
